This is MY Flag.
It represents MY country, America.
MY country is not perfect. MY country has made mistakes and has past sins.
Two of the biggest were the treatment and removal of Native Americans, and the atrocity of slavery.
MY country has also done some things well, like creating a Constitution that allows for change to take place, it allows for correction, and for the people to make improvements.
Consider:
The separation of powers, the ability to vote, freedom of speech, religion, the press, peaceful assembly, the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances and more.
All of these precious things give us the ability to self-correct without needing a revolution.
It’s no surprise that a country has made mistakes, even BIG mistakes. Research any country’s history. You’ll find mistakes, mistreatment, racism, genocide, imperialism, war, slavery, murder, human rights violations and more. It’s all there, it’s everywhere. It’s NOT an American problem, it’s a human problem.
If you believe the Genesis account of history, it only took 4 human beings (Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel) before one killed another, before one mistreated another, before one human inflicted pain on another.
Have we corrected as many things as we could have? No! But we can get there, and the fact that we have a country that allows for self-correction is remarkable.
