BIOGRAPHY’S – WATCH, READ & IMPROVE YOUR PERCEPTION.

Biography’s are a great study in the reality of life because they adjust both our positive or negative perceptions of people.  We see famous or highly accomplished people from afar and we build up a perception about their lives.

Watching or reading someone’s biography reveals some reality about that person’s life and adjusts our perceptions to help us understand the person was probably not as bad, or as maybe not as good as we assumed.

We from a perception of someone based on a number of things including:

  1. The public image they promote.
  2. Friend’s perspectives.
  3. News / Medias reports
  4. The public image that creeps out.

Although biography’s can be skewed, they reveal more about the real person than we see from the limited scope of the famous life.

What you can learn from the biography’s of famous people:

  1. Most have overcome significant difficulties.
  2. Most worked a lot harder than we think they did.
  3. Most got lucky somewhere in their journey.
  4. Most displayed some type of ingenuity or innovative thinking.
  5. Most displayed a great deal of dedication to their cause, belief or career.
  6. Most have had personal problems along the way that we never knew about.
  7. Most of their highs were very high, and their lows were very low.

I have found that biographies often cause me to think either more highly of the person or think a little less of them.  I usually find out that they struggled with personal choices.  I most often find out that they appear to be far more human after all.

Here’s a great biography documentary on a favorite of mine, Johnny Cash.

The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash (Official Documentary)

This biography reveals so much about Johnny Cash as a singer and performer, but also a lot about life.

It reveals family tragedy, talent, heartache, success, failure, fortune, love, mystery, hidden truths, ingenuity, artistic expression, insecurity, redemption and faith.

We all have an idea of who Johnny Cash is, he’s a singer and performer.   But when you get beyond those two titles, his life experiences reveal so much more.
